This is a 3-day, 2-night guided tour from Fes to the Sahara Desert and back. It’s a comprehensive loop designed to showcase the incredible diversity of Morocco’s landscapes. You’ll journey from an imperial city through mountains, forests, and oases to the golden sand dunes of the Sahara, before returning via dramatic gorges and valleys. The trip combines natural wonders with cultural glimpses into traditional Moroccan and Berber life.
Your desert adventure begins with a morning departure from Fes. Journey south, ascending into the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in the alpine-style town of Ifrane and continue to the cedar forests of Azrou to spot wild Barbary macaques. After lunch in Midelt, travel through the stunning Ziz Valley, pausing to admire a panoramic view of its lush oasis. By late afternoon, arrive at the edge of the impressive Erg Chebbi dunes and settle into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Awake early for a breathtaking desert sunrise. After breakfast, meet your driver to continue the tour. If it’s a market day (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday), visit the bustling traditional market in Rissani for a glimpse into local commerce. The journey continues through small Berber villages to the magnificent Todra Gorge, where you can take a short walk between its towering canyon walls. After lunch, travel to the picturesque Dades Valley for dinner and your overnight stay.
After breakfast, we begin our journey back to Fes. The scenic drive includes potential stops at Rissani’s traditional market (on market days) and the picturesque Ziz Valley. We’ll break for lunch in Midelt before traveling through the cedar forests of Azrou. Arrival in Fes is scheduled for the evening, concluding your desert tour.
